It occurs to me everday that we constantly have to sell our souls for money, that is obviously translating into a decent lifestyle, food and shelter. And thats terrible. For 40 hours a week i throw on a shirt and tie and worst of all a mask. And trust me im the last person to filter my thoughts for someone elses approval. To be a so called "outcast" or in better words someone who isn't really fond of the humdrum coperate life style and have to kiss that ass 40 hours a week is painstaking. My complete respect and admiration go out to the people on this site who wake up everyday and go to a job they love, a job they wanted in the first place, and a job that they can flex their xreative muscle at. To withhold your individuality for the sake of a paycheck is no way to live. The button up collared shirt might as well be a straight jacket, and the tie a noose, because living each day as a cog in the machine isn't worth it. If only people could make a living naming ice cream flavors, or have the job Tom Hanks has in BIG, now thats a job

Yikes, of course you're right, but...it's much easier to keep one's head in the sand. And funny you should mention selling your soul for money; do you think that's better or worse than selling your body, the way we do up here? Sure no one's actually touching it, but it's been bought nonetheless. And I'd rather pay my rent this way than have a 'dignified' 9-5 for some corporation I didn't believe in But I question that all the time too.
Thanks for your comment. Bikekill in Brooklyn? Haven't been there...yet. Why?

Thanks for your response to my comment. It was really supportive of you, and made me think a lot. I realized though, that this is not "me, bare and honest." There's something dishonest about me baring my skin to you, because it goes against a lot of what I do believe in in my daily life. I'm a feminist, that's all, embodying the full complexity of the term. He's right that there can be passion in this, and honesty in unexpected places, like the blog comments I get sometimes, but there sure as hell IS "a corporate robot telling you how to run the machine and sell your soul for the good of the company." Only some of us have a harder time selling than others, despite the instructions we're given by SG. Bitterness? Not so much, really. No...I can't complain. This is kind of a fun site to be part of in all its flaws. But I do get tired of the idealized version. If we're going to praise this type of 'job' for it's honesty, well Id better be honest about it myself.
