What have I been up to? Working as a barista (ugh), whipping up some delights in the kitchen, making myself do lots of yoga. Enjoying the summer that's finally arriving! Yesterday was perfect dress-wearing weather and I made the most of it. I want to get a bike soon & then I'll start enjoying the weather that way (and stop commuting on the bus! fuck you, bus!). I'm also working on a mini-garden and so far I've learned that seeds are fucking hard to start! I just checked on my starter boxes today and basil, dill, cucumbers, some little flowers, and some mystery unlabelled seeds are sprouting. Hooray! I'm not a complete and total failure.
Here are a tonne of photos to show you kind of what I've been up to the past few months:
Oh, and here's this video I love. Can you handle some existential angst about the tiny scale of our lives compared to the rest of the universe? Oh boy, I bet you can. No wonder people start to believe in religion. If you think about how futile and meaningless our lives are otherwise it can be pretty difficult. Although this video is kind of mind-boggling, it doesn't make me move from my position of staunch atheism. If anything, it makes me realise how I am the only one who can inject meaning into my own life. Enough rambling. Check this shit out!
So, what are you looking forward to this summer? Me, I'm hoping my garden grows...that I can finally take a trip to Vancouver (fingers crossed for late July!) and another trip to Prescott, AZ to visit my dude's wonderful grandparents (September?), a new job, some rad summer shows (sled island, wolf parade, folk fest) and a new tattoo (a rose on my elbow).
we really are the equivalent of specks of dust in relation to the universe. this knowledge should free me to go for the gusto in life, yet i am strangely paralyzed. still.
it's great to hear from you!
