♥ I am getting stuff done on my to-do list! I cleaned up the house a bunch, and now I am backing up my laptop so I can try reinstalling OSX in hopes of correcting the problems I've been having! I wrote/finished writing a few letters. I walked the dog. I ate breakfast/showered before noon! I answered emails. I am on a roll! I have today off because _mike_ and _amy_ are going up north to a wedding. I have tomorrow off because I always have fridays off. I am feeling so, so good about getting all this shit done! My mom is visiting next week from Thursday-Sunday so it's imperative that I take care of this stuff, like cleaning the house. My mom would tease us unmercifully if she saw our place like this.
♥ Yesterday Irinka and I went shopping! I got this wonderful black pencil-y skirt with a little flouncy ruffle on the bottom and some super-sex-dreamy heels.
♥ Last week Katieesq and I caught a play her friend was in: Romeo and Juliet, at the Old Globe Theatre. Her friend was playing Paris, and he did really well. The play was pretty barfy though. Romeo was so gross and the men's costumes were horrific! They were all wearing tights with little codpieces. Historical accuracy be damned. I am glad that John (K's friend) had a little skirty ruffle modestly covering him, which is good because I don't think I could have looked him in the face afterward! Kate, don't tell him that. Let's keep it between you, me and everyone on SG reading this.
We got all dressed up to go out and we had a great time! We are going to see John in Merry Wives of Windsor this week. Reportedly it's set in the wild West so hopefully no skin-tight leggings are going to be making an appearance.
♥ I have been knitting a baby blanket for my friends Wendy and Brian for what seems like months. I guess it is months but Jesus Christ on a crutch. I didn't expect it to take so long! I brought it to the theatre while watching the last two movies I saw: The Dark Knight with Kate last Friday and an (amazing) French thriller on Sunday, with Uproot: Tell No One/Ne le dis a personne. It was so fucking good.
♥ Netflix is the best thing to happen to the internet besides SG and Facebook. We just watched Chinatown this week. All I have to say is HOLY FUCK. I love movies like that. Another good one I watched lately was The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. People always used to tell me that I haven't seen enough movies--like, I'd meet someone and they'd quiz me on what I'd seen and conclude my movie education was incomplete (like _mike_!) but with Netflix I am catching up. And holy hell, are there a lot of good movies out there that I looked over. I love watching movies. I prefer to go to the cinema but at home is okay too.
♥ Another thing that people constantly tell me, and have for years: I look like someone they know/knew/met once. It's so strange! Part of my ego wants me to look unique but it's kind of a nice icebreaker.
♥ My cousin Alex sent me this City and Colour album and I wasn't really expecting to like it but I really, really enjoy it. Because I am an asshole sometimes, I assumed when the album came out a while ago that it would suck, just because it's from Alexisonfire's lead singer. I wouldn't say it's the most distinctive or inventive of Canadian folk/alternative I've listened to lately, but it has a pretty solidly good sound and some really nice songs.
♥ Canadian music? What?
Tokyo Police Club!
This song makes me want to go dance around. I
♥ Because I've been relentlessly pursuing the California Tan (make the most of the sun before I move back to cloudster Vancouver) I'm out to slather some smell sun-lotion on and lay out in the sun and read for a bit. I will probably fall asleep and I may even go for a swim. It is hot here today! It's 27C and I am going to enjoy it outside of my hot little apartment box.
