♥ Today I am working really hard on overcoming my procrastination. I like to keep my emails answered, inbox clean, etc, and I started out the day with 52 unread emails on Facebook, 61 on here, and 285 unfiled messages in my gmail. I knocked out the FB messes, am down to 143 on gmail, but haven't touched the ones yet on SG. Also I have a whole ass-load of comments I mean to return, and I will get around to it. I am just not sure when yet Hopefully later today, but I also want to do these things:
- clean the kitchen/living room (my house is 460sq feet and I have 3 pets. This place needs to stay clean or it gets claustrophobic!)
- write letters to Mnelyu. Wendy, Thaddius and finish up the care package to the kids me + Uproot sponsor through Plan USA.
- go suntan/read at the pool in my complex. Hopefully it's not overrun by cursing thirteen year olds today! If they are disturbing my peace, I think I will tell them to shut their pieholes. Seriously, the pool is in the middle of the complex with all the condos spread out in a circle around it. No one wants to hear that shit!
- staple together all the papers for uproot's Canadian permanent residence application.
- Take Mr Buzz on a walk around the park, or only half the park if it is super hot. He is so listless if we walk around the whole thing and it's hot.
- get ready to go out this evening. Me and ol' uproot are going to cruise around Hillcrest checking out the thrift shops and used book stores. I'm looking forward to it!
♥ my big creamsicle cat Henry has an eye problem! We took him to the vet last week and they weren't sure what it was, so I've been squirting ointment in his eye three times a day. It is great fun, believe me. He's still squinty and I feel bad but it's kind of cute. It looks like he is giving everything the stink eye.
♥ I am going to see Wolf Parade on Sunday. I missed them when they were here last September because I was super broke. Now I am not so broke so I refuse to miss it, even though Sunday night is kind of a shitty time. Whatever. I love Wolf Parade. I can stop being an old lady for a night and go out! Wolf Parade is my Canadian band of the update, haha.
My friend lemonhead put the song 'Grounds for Divorce' on a mix cd for me back in 2005 but I didn't really get into them until 2006, when uproot put more songs on a mix cd for me! I loved Grounds for Divorce but never got around to checking out more of their music because sometimes I am kind of a lazy butthead. Anyway, now they are kind of a staple in my rotation and I absolutely love them. I am so excited to go to their concert, although I might buy some old-lady earplugs. I am absolutely over my ears ringing for 3 days after a concert. I kind of have bad hearing to boot so I am not interested in having to use a big ear horn when I am old just so I can hear someone talking to me from across the room.
Wolf Parade doesn't sell ladies' tshirts smaller than a large so I won't be buying merch, but I probably will buy their new cd. I don't really need more tshirts anyway, but come on guys. Not everyone fits a large!
♥ I am trying to get back into modeling. I did a shoot with this Canadian who recently relocated to SD. Not only was it an awesome photoshoot, but we got to talk about Canadian stuff and that itself was amazing. I would love to hang out with her sometime but I don't know how to go about asking. I am worried she hates me. I know she doesn't, I just love to obsess about tiny things. Anyway, the shoot was one of the best I had in years and it reminded me why I love modeling. Sometimes I go out and I feel like it's so hard to pose and that modeling is the worst thing ever. Then (usually when I work with women) I remember why I enjoy it. I vastly prefer working with ladies. It's not that I've had bad experiences working with men--some of my best photos have come of it. I am way more comfortable with ladies and I never feel like they are trying to exploit my sexuality.
Another really awesome thing was that this photographer brought some super cute vintage dresses for me to try, and we turned out to be the same size so I gave them a whirl. I would love to broaden my dress collection, so it was rad to be able to wear them. It made me feel so pretty and that really comes through in the photos.
there are a bunch more I like...
♥ Are you ready for the craziest sea creature yet? Crazier than a nudibranch?
SEA ROBIN, a fish with both wings and 'legs'
♥ I hate Comic Sans. I hate when people use it for advertising. I hate when people use it for books. I hate it for websites, invitations, emails, anything. If you send me something in Comic Sans, expect a chilly reception.
♥ Speaking of receptions, I went to a true So Cal wedding last weekend. The vows were on the cliffs at La Jolla Cove; the groom/groomsmen wore linen shirts and khaki; tacos, beans and rice were served at supper. It was pretty bad ass.
♥ I am having pierogi and sauerkraut for lunch. My ethnic heritage is Eastern European. I love pierogies but only recently got into sauerkraut. Now I could practically live on it. Anyone who leaves me comments about how gross sauerkraut is will be getting a face-punch. Just kidding, I don't have time to come to all the sauerkraut haters and punch them into submission. But if I did, you guys would have to watch out.
I LOVE you.
"Nuff said"
Oh and I went to Slickety Jim's yesterday before my flight. I will miss that place .
