where: fish creek park, 9 am on a sunday. we were not far enough off the path to not get noticed by some creepy jogging suit guys! yikes. i almost fell into a slough while we were shooting. it was harrowing and intense, haha.
about the set: it's so weird to see myself in this set. i feel like i don't look like myself. i was only 20 (only?). i feel like i look much different now, even though i'm the same weight as i was then. this was my third and final attempt at going pink. if this set hadn't gotten accepted, i'd decided not to submit any more.
where i was in my life: i had just gotten over the loneliest spring ever and was starting to make friends (including lavonne! i am happy we did this set together because that was the start of our friendship.) i broke my front tooth in a skateboarding fumble just two weeks before shooting this. getting it repaired was terrible. i was skateboarding a lot then, mostly because i'd had no friends and wanted to pass the time somehow. it made me feel so good and strong! i started smoking clove cigarettes because i wanted to appear more aggressive and intimidating because i had a lot of anger i didn't know how to deal with.

about the set: me and mal kind of threw this together without too much planning. lavonne and i searched high and low for a bubble machine and i think that really helped make the set. the bubble machine left a huge meses on the floor. lavonne slipped and almost died. that would have definitely ruined the atmosphere. this is my favourite of any of my sets, so it makes me really happy to see how many other people love it.
where i was in my life: i was so happy! i was really lucky to have lavonne as a friend. i saw her almost every day that summer. i was still skateboarding lots but i had more fulfillment in my personal life and i was feeling so strong.

about the set: still smoking a bit, but i bought a pack just for the set. i drank pilsner beer all summer but i was on heavy antibiotics from a round of shitty infections so i didn't actually drink the beer for the set! i was worried someone would be able to tell. some people gave me flak for crossing out a tilted swastika, but southern alberta has lots of neo-nazis so i just assumed (and still do) that it was not there out of religious expression. some people got my fubar shout out in the final frames (tron funkin' blow) but some people thought that i was dissing the cartoon tron. ha! also, this set made up for another spraypainting set i'd had rejected in july 2004.
where i was in my life: still happy, cruising into the autumn and feeling great.

about the set: i am not happy with this set. i could have done way better with my modeling, but i was feeling so lazy. i think lavonne took good photos though. i like the cameo my late kitty misty-blue makes. i wish she was acting more charismatic but then i wasn't being a very good role model.
where i was in my life: working at calgary public library (obviously, from the id tag; i worked there for most of my time in calgary). i had just learned how to do a beehive hairstyle--swoon! i think my hair looks amazing in this set. i wish i could still fit that grey skirt. it made my bum look so nice.

about the set: i had known drake for a couple years and we came up for the idea for this set. i loved it! we scoured downtown for the shiny things you see in the set. it was sooo much fun to shoot this set! i am really proud of it. malloreigh leant me her dress. until about 20 mins before we started shooting, i had no idea what i was going to wear! thank god for lady friends! mal was in the background perving out and taking cell phone pictures of us. in vancouver a few months later i was looking through a friend's cell phone photos and saw one mal had sent to her from this shoot.
where i was in my life: still happy, working hard to get to vancouver. kind of going through a 'personal' thing so i cut all my hair off. rather: lavonne did. talented lady, that one!

about the set: this set was kind of like a goodbye to calgary. i was about to move to edmonton for a short stop before vancouver. i was happy to be off the prairie but sad too. it was hard to leave but i was very scared i'd grow complacent and never try anything new. i feel like i look mega-hot in this set though!
where i was in my life: i guess i kind of said it in 'about the set'.

about the set: once more, kind of thrown together. i had amazing help from linds, who slathered a lot of spray on cooking oil on me, the location, drove us all down there, and redmess who did my makeup and loaned me her scarf! and cherry did this on short notice--so of course i am grateful to her too. i love some of the experimental shots, especially the one where i look x-rayed.
where i was in my life: kind of a shitty place, i was going through some rough stuff and i was really worried about what would happen to me but i was managing to keep it together. i was lucky to have some good support. i had just gotten married and i wouldn't see him for three months so i was pretty unhappy about that.

where: trixie and chloe's living room: trixie's brother's tent (san diego)
about the set: this was shot at probably 1.30 am so i am surprised i look so coherent! we were drinking wine and cackling for so long instead of shooting. trixie shot a set just before i did this one. it was spur of the moment--i talked to them a few hours before coming over and really had no idea what my set was going to be about, what i'd wear. i was lucky i'd shaved my legs the day before, yeesh!
where i was in my life: pretty content! i was bummed about not going home to visit my family for christmas, and i hated my job, but everything else was super happy. it still is--i have a really good life. good husband, good friends, supportive/awesome family, sweet pets.
