i made it back from san francisco in one piece! it took wayyyy too long to get there (almost 12 hours!) for whatever reason. i guess because we had to make a lot of stops but yuckfest. that is too long!
we stayed across the bay from s.f. on a converted houseboat on stilts over a marsh. it was SO cool. to get there you have to walk 400m down a boardwalk. we stayed with a friend and her family and it was great! i know this photo isn't the best but we were staying in one of the houses on the bottom left.
we did so much! we went walking arount the haight, went to a tower at an art museum to take in the view, saw the crookedest street in the world:
it was SO crazy! i knew san francisco was hilly but it's so different seeing it. driving and walking around downtown was so cool. the city is beautiful. everything we saw was great to look at. the scenery is amazing and i'm gushing, i know.
here i am lazing about in washington square.
we went through chinatown (sigh!) and north beach. we went to this famous place called vesuvio that bob dylan and a bunch of beat poets used to hang out at.
my only regret for the trip is that i wish i had money to spend. all i bought was a taco and 6 postcards. we went in an amazing bookstore and it was torturous not being able to buy a single thing. there were so many shops that i wanted to look in but i just couldn't. i hate looking at things i can't afford. with the next bit of money i have to spend, i'm going to get a roll of film developed though. i wish i had a dslr! that would be SO nice right now. i am just aching for one lately so i think i'm ready to switch.
i still miss canada too much. i felt pretty lonesome for my home on canada day, even though everyone i was around was so nice. i saw the movie sicko and that was good for canada pride. the health care system here is so fucked up. it's the only reason i would not live here permanently. it is inhuman to have a price put on your health like that.

Also, those photos look worth the 12 hour drive!
