If you are planning on re-planting, planting, or generally moving cacti from one area to another, it's a good idea to wear some sort of hand protection, like some good sturdy work gloves.

I'm passing on this obvious, yet sagely advice in the hopes of helping someone out. I only wish someone had done it for me.
