I got a new job! I got a new job! Well, for the most part. I go in and train tomorrow, but I think I've got it in the bag. The place was really tiny and chill. And there are two really great, wonderful, fabulous things about it:
(1) A full bar (Jackpot! This means, I have yet another place to get drinks on my off days without getting carded)
and... (and this is the best part)
(2) No hott lesbian co-workers to distract me (as far as I know). I'm semi-picky about girls, but the last restaurant I worked in was crawling with the gays and I ended up shacking up with the one I should have run from as quickly as possible.
But! It is a new day. I refuse to make the same mistake. Onward and upward, eh?
Still haven't written my 10 page paper. I did make an outline though... which is new. I usually just word vomit whatever's in my brain and leave it as that, but I am attempting to get organized even if it is very, very last minute.
My cat-sitting begins tomorrow. I guess I'll go after I train at the restaurant, although it will be out of my way. Technically, I could crash there, but I have a doctor's appointment at 9 in the morning in Brooklyn the next day, so I'll probably just end up late-night train riding as usual.
Oh yea, so I started writing a collection of poems about New Orleans (a commentary on growing up around the bayou and the aftermath of Katrina) and I sent them to my friend. Well, he sent them to his dad, who runs a local poetry magazine and his dad had really nice things to say about them! He said that while I needed to work on my line structure, I had a clear, strong voice and I seemed really talented. He also asked for my name. My friend suggested I work on them (or something else) for a bit and then send them in. Hopefully, I'll get something decent and get my work published somewhere for the first time! Oh, if anyone's interested in reading them, they can be found on my myspace blog, here. ♥
***EDIT***
Huzzah! Annoying final paper is finished! ::Breathes huge sigh of relief:: I admit, it's chock full of quotes and bullshit, but it is finished and that's all that matters. See? I may be a big, fat procrastinator, but I work exceedingly well under the pressure. And look! I even have time to catch a couple Zzz's before class Weeeee- all is well.
