So I had an adventure today. It all started at 7am, when I drove my mom to work and then drove an hour north of my home in CO to get to a wind farm. I needed to take pictures for a school assignment focused on conservation and the environment.
When I arrived near the wind farm I looked for a road that might lead to it. No luck, none such road existed. So I parked in the parking lot of a gentlemen's club (The only building within 3 miles of the wind farm. Yeah I don't know...) and got bundled up. I was going to have to trek it. So I got all wrapped up as it is below freezing here right now.
I am a fucking freezing ninja.
I climbed over a farm's barbed wire fence successfully. I only managed to get a small puncture in my new pants, nothing noticeable. And then I walked about a mile to the wind farm. I had to walk through someone's cattle field. So the entire mile I was dodging poop, small cactus, and snow. Cow poop, deer poop, fox poop, all kinds of poop existed in that field. I couldn't walk more than 3 steps without seeing poop. But I managed to not get any on my boots as I walked over the hills to get to the the white turning wind mills.
It was so damn cold. I had my scarf wrapped around my ears and face, with my hood, and two coats on. I'm so glad it was sunny today because if it wasn't it would have been horrible.
On the way back to my car I saw a deer and a hawk. Too bad I don't have a telephoto lens or I could have gotten a better shot. This is super tiny off of a huge raw picture.
But I got some great pictures! I don't know if I have exactly what I need for class though. I also wish it were summer so that I could do a set out there. What a great backdrop.
