ahahahahahahahaha
Now that's cute...
So this weekend was fantabulous. Well not necessarily this weekend, but mainly Saturday was fantabulous. First thing on the agenda was attending Wondercon with Autrix. We got there at about 11:15 were I promptly had to wait in a line that wrapped around the block and took a mere twenty minutes to get through. (That line moved incredibly fast considering it's size). I managed to get in and Autrix and I snagged some killer seats up front in the lecture rooms where we listened to Marcus Nispel (director of Texas Chainsaw Massacre) talk about his new viking movie coming out, Pathfinder. Looks gory and vikings kick ass. Then we heard from J.J. Abrams, director of Lost, Alias, and now Mission Impossible III (which I hope goes well for him, he seemed like a cool guy).
Then came the event I was attending for...
KEVIN SMITH!
Not only is Clerks II coming out and is going to kick major ass, but I got to sit through two hours of Kevin Smith Stand-up. His entire lecture was joke after joke.
Two main highlights were when a little kid asked to be "little Jay" if a need should come up in any future movies
and when Kevin completely offended and embarassed a suburban mother who wanted to give him her daughter's head shot after insulting him. Ahh the glory of Kevin Smith.
After that was some Pixar stuff, then some Silent Hill clips.
Then came Mr. Singer
Director of X-Men the Movie and X-Men II, and now director of the new Superman. He was absolutely adorable! He was so very nervous to be out in front of so many people.
He did a bit of questions and answers then brought out the star of the new Superman movie, Superman himself, Brandon Routh.
I must say he is quite quite sexy.
Both him and Singer went through some embarrassing and not so embarassing questions and compliments. It was enjoyable.
After all those presentations were done I had been sitting in the room for over four hours. I was ready to go downstairs and wander the comic room.
While downstairs I found my way to the Slave Labor Graphics area where they had,
THE SPOOKY DOLL THAT SQUEAKS!
I've been looking for one for over three years since they've been backordered online... YAY!
I also bought a Voodoo Baby charm. (It's from asians so I don't think they realize VDbaby doesn't sound right at all...)
Oh I almost forgot! One of Autrix's friends was at the con and had four winning tickets for huge bus display size X-Men III movie posters. He was incredibly nice and gave us each one. I was so happy I got the Phoenix poster. It's hot! posters.
So after much listening to directors, and much spending of money it was time for dinner at Mel's Diner.
Now you might think that was the conclusion to the night, but you are very much wrong. After all that I still had the Mutaytor concert to attend. I must say that is was the best show I have ever seen. The opener was a man who played pipes, saws, boots and random other things to make his music. He looped himself and sang and was acutally rather clever and fun. Then Mutaytor played for an hour.
I love drums, so an entire band of drums was amazing. Not to mention that they have dancers that tour with them who do firestaff and hoolahoop coreography.
I fell in love with two of the dancers. Mainly the impossibly gorgeous androgynous Karis
and the oh so sexy mohawked, Bryan. During Mutaytor's break, Kid Beyond came out to beatbox and loop with his amazing vocal skills. That guy can really use his voice!
I was truly impressed with the show. Not many people put on an acutual performance anymore.
After the show I went over to a friends house and chilled then came home to go to bed. Sunday was just a lazy day to clean the apartment and mend some clothing.
Now tonight, Death Guild.
