So I'm going to be starting yoga teacher training on Saturday. Huzzah! I've only been thinking about this for, what, 3 years? It's about stinkin' time. I'm guessing it's going to be a good solid year before I'm certified. Whatever. I'm in no rush. Just happy to be starting this, finally, not so much concerned about the outcome or how long it takes to get there.
This past Saturday night, I went to an outsider art show in Saugerties. I liked a lot of the stuff there, but sadly, my art budget is mighty slim, so I came home empty handed. I don't think I totally get what constitutes outsider art. I mean, okay, Henry Darger, yes. He had no training whatsoever, and his work wasn't discovered until after he died. But if you're showing pieces in a gallery, and the pieces have large price tags on them, how does this constitute outsider art? I'm not trying to be cynical or snarky, I just honestly don't understand. I think I'm missing something.
Anyway, outsider art in Saugerties was followed by a rollicking game of Pictionary, in which I had to be reminded several times that "pubic hair" is not a good guess when playing Pictionary. Well, it would be if I had designed the game.
