Man, I've felt naked for the last few weeks.
Back in February I went back home for family day weekend. I took the Friday off from work and drove up on the Thursday night. I spent some time at a few different places, mother's, brother's and a friends cottage. Anyway, about halfway on my way back to TO I realized that I wasn't wearing my watch. I called my family and friends, and no one saw it around. I've had a watch for so long that I forget what it's like to NOT to have a watch.
Earlier tonight after dinner, I decide to take a drive out to Sherway Gardens to go watch shopping. It's a little out of my way, but it's my favorite mall in the area. So I start the mall crawl and began looking for jewelery and accessory stores. After a couple of shops I finally find some watches that I like and want to try on. I tried on a Bulova watch which completely blew me away. The saleswoman started telling me about all of the features about the watch and I was sold. I then nonchalantly ask her how much it cost. She says: "$699.99" plus HST.
I was shocked. I had no idea. I figured it would be like $200. As I walked into the mall, I just had the value of $200 in my head. I figure that would be enough to buy me a nice watch. I then tell the lady, I was looking to pay in the range of 200-250. She then pulled out a few watches in that range and I was turned off. They were all pieces of junk. I ended up not buying a watch. I ended up leaving naked
Walking back to my car, I thought, wow, I was naive to think a nice watch would be cheap. Then I started thinking, "Hey, I've never actually bought a watch in my life". Never. I've had like 3 maybe 4 watches in the last 10 years. They always lasted me about 3 years. Then I thought some more about my past watches, and I realized they were always gifts. My mother bought me one way back when, and my last 2 were gifts from girlfriends. I guess they were quality pieces. Thanks ladies!
I think I'm going to wait until the next time I hit up the Niagara shopping outlets across the border. I remember seeing some sick watches in the Fossil store at very good prices.
............
I had a 2nd job interview with the same company this morning. I think it went very well. They seemed pleased with me and we got to the joking around part at the end of it. Always a good sign. The recruiter told me it was down to me and 1 other candidate. I'm still keeping my hopes in check, because I have no idea how good the other guy is, and for all I know they might hire him. But in end, I am not stressed at all. I love my current job, it's just that this new job would be even better. In any case, it was a good networking session and a couple of key contacts were added to my Linkedin profile.

Tomorrow is Pancake Tuesday! I'm going out for dinner with some friends to some place that serves breakfast 24 hours a day. I'm going to order a classic high stack of pancakes to celebrate the occasion.
