this was gonna be an entry about my bands upcoming Concorde 2 gig, here in Brighton
but ... our old drummer who has been standing in throughout the summer has pulled out saying he got his dates mudled up
i'm not gonna get pissed off about it, there's no point
just a bit bummed, it was gonna be his last gig
we wanted to make it a bit special - so no hard feelings
however, there's a very slim possibility we might still do the gig with a guy we're auditioning on Monday
we know he's an awesome player and we're only doing a short set so it might just work out
last week my lady and i went to see Rich's (my bass player) other band The Desperate Ones
Bloody amazing, the eight of them play a mixture of original material and covers of tunes put to the work of French poet Jacques Brel
a really apt description of them from the back of their flyer reads - French / Dutch country jazz noir creating rich burlesque landscapes
it was so nice to hear something different
flute, trumpet, vibes, fiddle and french accordion
along with a beautiful female lead vocal not dissimilar to Polly Harvey or Kate Bush
awesome stuff indeed - Betina nearly cried
hope you are all well
as usual at this time of year, i'm sitting at work freezing my arse off
but hey, the sun's out
