Different sort of Japanese Ink than you guys might be more familiar with, this is a brush and ink copy of Yamaoka Tesshu's (a famous Japanese Swordsman and Calligrapher) depiction of a snail climbing a mountain. It is a Zen work showing both courage and humility in walking the Way.
The original is, of course, inscribed in Japanese. I can't read or write Japanese so have inscribed the piece instead with flowing English lettering, which reads 'Unified in Spirit What Cannot Be Accomplished?' - a favourite saying of Tesshu's. It's about 24 inches long, on Japanese rice paper.
