A funny thing about going on vacation is people asking "Are you going alone?" yes, I'm going alone; If I wait for others I could end up waiting forever. So, a week away from work stress, negative energy and the negativity of some people can do wonders. I feel a bit more like myself and re-energized. Been smiling a lot more too.
I went to the Days of the Dead Convention in Chicago, and had a blast, got there on friday, got to meet Rose McGowan, Colombia Magenta and Brad fro Rocky Horror Picture Show, met Pinhead & Kirsty from the Hellraiser series (hell yes!!) , the great Dee Wallace, Willian Forsythe , Tony Todd and many more. The Saturday Monsters ball was super fun of course lots of beer drinking and whiskey shots were had , so woke up monday with a little hangover. But all in all it was even more than I could ask for. Met Charlie Benante form Anthrax who was sitting next to me at the bar on Friday!!
On Monday, I headed into the city. It was around 23 degrees and snowing a bit. Both New to me, that was colder than I've ever been in my life. And you do prepare, like sweater, scarf, coat, beanie, gloves, coat.... I'm 6'-4" and 75% of that it's legs....which I completely disregarded. I have to admit, I underestimated the cold. But hell, it was an adventure so after a detour into a store to get myself some thermal undies got going. Spend three days walking around the city. Went to the Museum of Contemporary Art, where the had a David Bowie Exhibition which was unreal. (I'm a metalhead/punk at heart but my musical tastes changes with my moods and Bowie is a freaking genius!) then I headed for the Art Institute of Chicago where I spent a long time, and got to see amazing pieces of art. Also there where this old dude and old dudette making amazing drawing of some marble busts. At night went barhopping and ended in a bar called Pippin's (yes, that Pippin). On Wednesday ended going to the museum of surgical science because, of course I had to. I also got to go to the Second City Comedy Club.
All in all it was the trip I needed. Physically I'm tired, but mentally and emotionally I'm revamped!
