From the Blog Homework archives comes Tell Us A Funny Story.
At least, I found it funny.
So here we go.
Sometimes I like to take a walk along the Esplanade in town and play a game I call Pick The Accent.
I live in a tourist town and, before Covid, international tourists were plentiful.
The idea is, as I walk along and overhear various conversations amongst the tourists, I try to guess where they're from based on the accent.
It's not eavesdropping unless you purposely try to listen in.
One particular day, I walked past an Australian guy on the phone to someone and into the phone his exact words were:
"What time does the bar open?"
In my head I was thinking, this guy has his priorities straight.
It's a lot funnier if you bung on an over the top Aussie accent.
