I personally wouldn't tell a girl I love her just to get sex because I can't stand to see a girl cry and because I like to be happy about who I am when I look in the mirror, but I can see the benefits. Very few women are likely to admit they just want sex for physical pleasure, so guys go the emotional route because we know most women are highly emotional about such things.
