I busted my boss last night in a big ol' lie and we had it out. And by we had it out I mean she sat and listened while I told her everything she thought I didn't know. I'm no dummy. The look on her face was priceless.
As it turns out, me not getting the extra class was in fact because two students don't like me as a teacher and wanted to pull out. I don't mind the students not liking me, that's part of teaching. But I don't like being lied to, especially by my boss. And to have the class taken from me instead of pulling me into the office and giving me the straight heads up and, I don't know, maybe offering to change my class with another one to make everyone happy is not cool.
I smelled a rat when an email went out talking about changes to my 'canceled' class and confronted my boss about it. She stuttered for a minute when I asked who was teaching my class. She tried to feed me the same "it got merged with the other one" line from before but I told her someone was teaching it because it was on the schedule as two sections, not one. Kids talk, too. Turns out it's the total selfish bitch of a teacher, the only teacher I've ever had any sort of issue with. And I get along with EVERYBODY. This girl just gets to me. I think it was the night she started attacking Judaism and claiming that I could never know anything about Christianity because I hand't accepted Jesus into my heart and all sorts of other fun. I've been to churches and services (including one with a friend of mine every Sunday night for about... oh 14 years or so. Just because my family is Jewish doesn't mean I can't learn about other stuff and make some amazing friends along the way) of all kinds from Unitarian Universalist to Catholic to Baptist to Lutheran, etc. and have read both Old and New Testaments front to back about four times. Antisemitism doesn't sit well with me. Neither does calling me ignorant or stupid.
Anyway, once I found out who was teaching my class I just about stormed out and then my boss called me back in and said, 'I should probably tell you the truth." Yeah, I think you better had. We talked about it and I told her why I was so upset with them. She said she'd try to make it up to me by giving me sub hours here and and buying my old computer before I leave. It won't come anywhere close to the total amount of the class, but at least it's something. The bigger sting was being lied to. Especially after she started rumors claiming I had Swine Flu and scaring my kids out of my classes for two weeks. And that whole business about putting me on report for not getting a sub when she forgot i was leaving for the States.

I'm not usually this whiny, but since I got back to Korea after my vacation it's been one thing after the other and I'm ready to be down by the beach in Australia with a certain someone. Four more weeks and change.
Speaking of Australia, I'd better get going. I have to get that chest x-ray done so I can get my visa paperwork finished and approved. Keep your fingers crossed, hey?
