First blog post and not really sure what to say but I guess I'll start with a little bit about me.
I am a second year freshman currently attending Chattanooga State Community College. With luck I will be transferring to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga within the next year. I am a Computer Science major working towards my degree in Information Security. In English that means I want to be a professional hacker hired by companies to evaluate and provide recommendations on how to improve their network's security. I find the field fascinating because of it's fluidity and the need to keep learning and thinking outside the box to keep up with and surpass my peers. There are many fields that offer those kinds of conditions but I have always been fascinated by computers with their near-limitless uses and constant progress of the technology that powers them, there will always be something new to learn. Hacking, however, is my primary passion. Hacking is not about bending a computer to your will (while that is one of its very, very cool uses ) it's a mindset; a way you approach and solve problems, not just with computer systems or networks, but in everyday life. It's curiosity in it's purest form; a drive to learn the how and why things work the way they do. Under that definition Theoretical Physicists, Engineers, Mathematicians and others who are driven by asking the questions why and how, to discover these answers and change how not only yourself but all of humanity views existence, they are all hackers. So I guess you could say that hacking is not so much an activity as it is a philosophy. A philosophy based on curiosity and uncovering the how's and the why's of life.
