A Sermonette about Love on Valentine's Day
Love has lots of power. Emma Goldman called it "the defier of laws, the molder of destiny..." Can anyone say "Love-a-looyah!"
The most used persuader by corporate marketers to sell their stuff is Love. That's the megaton throw-weight of the big ads with asses hanging out over the avenue and super models with eyes the size of toxic hot-tubs.
Love is the thing that creates life. Love moves the story. Love is on the radio, the Net, the iPod on our head. It's coming out of the friggin' walls Love is!
Now suddenly the advertisers can't seduce us with 100 foot high celebrity pin-ups because they're going broke from their greed. The signs along the highway are blank. So the Love is increasing inside us little, hot people on the ground with the pressure lifting. Coming out of our mouths and into our ears, very inventive sweet nothings are flowing, fingers around waists, a sigh on the phone... Love-a-looyah!
When the Love from us in on the rise and the corporate smooch-marketing is decreasing, well, we come to a sexy lipstick-tipped tipping point. Which is where we are now - we can go forward into defiance and change or slip back again into the unstimulating Stimulus package of the conjob of conformist Consumerism. The Devil! The Devil!
Now in the Church of Life After Shopping we believe that Love is the currency of the ultimate gift economy. We are lovers and we are both the giver and the givee. There is no corporate sponsorship here. The marketing department people sit around in their glass rooms considering and giving in depth reports on the multiple orgasms among the hot little people on the ground. They are staring at our thrashing nasty come-moment and they're trying to figure out where the logo goes. We are out ahead of them though. We are all-orgasm all the time, changing and moving, sweating and singing out. They can't get the price tag to stick. We're so in Love that we're not for sale.
Yeah Love has lots of power. We defy laws. We mold our own destiny, with our Love.
