New music update:
The Shins' Chutes Too Narrow: Amazing. I'd heard "Pink Bullets" a while back, but it took me a little bit to pick the CD up, and I can't believe I waited this long. It's the best album I've bought in a long time. Low-key pop songs that are actually intelligent are a nice find indeed! Recommended songs: "Pink Bullets," "So Says I."
The Hives' Tyrannosaurus Hives: Good. Pretty much what I expected even after having only heard a couple of the songs on the album beforehand: "Walk Idiot Walk" and "Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones." Fun and energetic. Recommended songs: "No Pun Intended," "Missing Link."
The Mars Volta's Frances the Mute: Good. This is definitely a concept album similar to their first, in which case it is best to listen to it from the first note to the last, or else you'll miss the parts that sets it apart from the rest of the music you hear nowadays. I'm not too keen on the excessively long parts, intros, and outros. It seems as if they were compressed into a tigher composition, the songs would be infinity better, but this is also a problem I had with their last record, so it probably won't happen soon. Recommended songs: "L' Via L' Viaquez," "Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore" (or at least the middle of it).
