So I ended up seeing that friend in Victoria, and I must say I was slightly disappointed with how it turned out. I haven't seen her in a few (?) years and I though I was glad to see her, I was hoping to go out for something to eat and then a coffee shop or something. Instead, I ended up at her place and talked a bit while she waited for "a special delivery" and then some of her friends came over. They were cool, but I wasn't exactly prepared for the entire thing. Expectations, sadly, are almost never a good thing to have when it comes to this sort of thing, I suppose.
On the flipside, the wedding went down quite well. I ended up choosing the burgandy shirt with the dark tie with my navy pinstripe. I wasn't sure whether to wear my black short-brim fedora, but I ended up doing so after the ceremony when we were all standing outside and it got windy. I was told that the group pictures went quite well since the sun was out just enough to get them and then the clouds blew in.
Autumn sure does come in quick, I seem to keep forgetting that...
I finished reading Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly by Anthony Bourdain, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I might even try to pick up one of his works of fiction when I'm out at PB Cruise Booksellers.
I had a great time wearing that suit of mine, and I'm now trying to find a reason to wear it again... I'll try to have some pictures up sometime within the next seven days, but we'll have to see...
Oh yeah, I ended up seeing Red Eye and The Brothers Grimm yesterday and the day before. While I enjoyed Cillian Murphy's performance in Red Eye, the movie ended up with his character turning into the clichd frothing monster in the end. I ended up liking it, but I'm notoriously easy-to-please when it comes to movies. The Brothers Grimm was not as good, though it was enjoyable from a certain point of view, the movie was paced so frenetically that even an ADD kid would be screaming for a breather. It wasn't hard to follow, per s, but you had to pay a lot of attention and sift through the visuals which were packed into each frame like Japanese salarymen groping teenage girls on the Monday morning Tokyo subway.
Despite many people's dislike for Nick Cage, I'm looking forward to seeing Lord of War. If I can find someone to go with, I'll probably check out Broken Flowers as well...
