So, yeah, 4th of July weekend went well enough. Party at our friends, Kim and Jerry, was great. They pull out all the stops for this party. Tons of food, beer, booze, a bounce house for the kids, and this guy spends about $2,000 on fireworks. It was actually a very impressive display. Some of the fireworks were city quality and huge. I ended up drinking about 5 Jager Bombs, which I know is a kid's drink, but whatever, a bunch of 40-yr-olds enjoyed the hell out of them. It also kept me buzzing like crazy.

We leave for Las Vegas Sunday. Some of the same people that were at the party are going along for the trip. It'll be 8 couples and two single dudes. Most of them I know through Jerry and Kim, but they're all cool people. We're staying at the MGM for the first time. One of the better casino/hotels on the strip. I'll most likely be found in the MGM Poker Room all week. I want to enter a few tournaments too while I'm out there. Last time we went was two years ago, so I am excited. Last year was the first year since 1990 that I didn't go to Vegas. I've gone to Vegas at least once a year, (and most of the years before I got married, 2 or 3 times), since 1990. Our '07 trip was also one of my most profitable. I just have to stick to Poker, and not get lured into craps or blackjack. The house will always win in the long-run! Poker, you play against other schmucks, not the casino. You can have an advantage and they don't care.

So, we'll see if I can stay disciplined and make some money...
