I had to use my first aid skills for the first time this morning. A few cars in front of me, a stupid driver ran over two cyclists (not one, two!) The driver never looked and she was driving too fast i guess. Anyway, i saw an older lady fly through the air, and a man was thrown to the side of the road. I'm a nurse (i dont know for the other places, but here in Quebec, it's our legal duty as a nurse to stop if no emergency vehicle is on the site) so i got out of my car scared as hell of what i would find. The two people where lying on the asphalt, and luckily they were not too badly injured, yeah! The lady had a badly broken leg, and open fracture (first time i saw that in real life. It's fuckin ugly!) Thanx G for helmets! Her s was broken in half! She would of been in much more serious condition if it wasn't for that. She was so calm, adrenalin i guess. She was scratched and getting bad bruises everywhere, that's going to hurt like crazy when the adrenalin and endorphin are gonna go down. The man was in a better shape, super calm also, waiting for the ambulance to arrive. It was very weird being there. I did my best, i think my cares were the best i could provide in that type of situation. But i'm sure i'm gonna think about what i did, how i could of done it for a lot of nights. As for the driver, she was super agitated (and annoying...) complaining that she was going to be late for work... We all have our way to deal with stress i guess. I arrived at work 15 minutes late, super tired lol ! It drained all my energy in a little half hour.
Hurray for good friends who come when you need them (and that come with a bottle of wine
