so here I am, doing a New Year's Day rant.
Ok. So I went to a NYE party last night in a warehouse in DT Minneapolis. I was with a new group of friends that I'd just started hanging out with and everyone liked me so they wanted me to hang out again. So, logically I was invited to the NYE party. Ok, so at aforementioned NYE party I meet a boy. He's a few years older than me, cute with adorable dark shaggy hair and dark eyes, just like I like them. He also managed, while drunk to have an entire conversation with me about Greek mythology (ten million bonus points for him). And, all night long he insisted on calling me "pretty lady" and complimenting me every chance he got. So, naturally, I want to jump the hot, smart boy who's being blatantly obvious to me about his interest in me. I flirted with him more, and he started flirting with me more, and then suddenly we catch the attention of people at the party. And then I get pulled into the hallway for a discussion cleverly hidden in the words "cigarette break". I then get told that I'm too new in the group to flirt with hot, smart boy who's blatantly interested in me, because a girl who is established in the group wants him and he's been toying her along for about 6 months, and she's jealous of his interest in me. I get told that I'm obviously just a toy that he's using to make her jealous and it's obvious that he likes her because he's so eager to make her jealous. To my eyes, he was showing little to no interest in her at all, maybe some on the friend level, but other than that none. In fact, when I asked her (jokingly before I knew she wanted in his pants) if I could take him home with me, she told me hell no, and he swore upside down and sideways that she wasn't his keeper. But, to attempt to keep the peace in the group that I'm just starting to hang out with, I didn't want to fuck anything up, so I had to ignore hot boy who wanted me, even though he didn't know I was instructed to do so. He kept flirting with me all night and even tried to get cuddly with me, and so it was SO HARD to be a good person, but I did.
Moral of the story? Next time I see him, if he continues to act like he does, I'm going to tell him exactly what is going on with everything that I've been told, and then if we figure out what can and can't go on, then I'm going to attack him and never let him go (if that is an option.... perhaps even if it isn't an option.)
