Well, tonight was another long night at work. I ended up being scheduled from 5pm to 2am. I was part of the group assigned to do the new "flow" for the store. (Flow is when we get the new items in for the new season and have to rearrange the whole store to fit the new things in, get the old things in backstock or on the sales wall, etc.) I was a little surprised tonight because I was the most senior employee scheduled to work till 2am. A manager ended up staying with us though even though she wasn't scheduled, but she left me in charge of the other two girls, so I felt pretty neat. I also got to work on a lot of visuals things (aka making the things in the store look neat, setting up displays, window setups), and I got to tell the new girls which things had to be folded and where they had to go. Rebecca (the manager) also let me be the one to do the last closing walk-thru to make sure that the store was all in order for tomorrow. I also got to be the one to check her out and check all her bags before we left. I felt rather spiffy in fact. Woot! I guess the fact that I'm a hard worker and good trainer isn't being missed by my managers. I'm still just an average schmo employee (well, and part of the visuals team), but I'm hoping I can be moved up in the world sometime soon. Cheesy, I know, but I think it's a worthy goal.
(yeah, so this was originally part of an email I wrote to someone, but I figure that it was a rather good summary of me at work for the night, so I figured I'd just post it here.)
