Happy birthday to me. yea.
As a gift to myself, I went to see a concert yesterday. But not just any concert, This event was 12 years in the making. I'm talking about a reunion tour of the Toadies!! If you're asking yourself, "Just who are the Toadies", then maybe you should go to their MySpace page or to their home page.
Oh the wave of memories tsunami-ed themselves against my consciousness, and with a smile on my face and lyrics on my lips, I (for lack of a better phrase) rocked out with cock out, bitches! Thought the set only lasted 90 minutes, they were bliss-filled and thoroughly enjoyed.
I missed all the previous opportunities to see them live all those years ago - damn my sense of responsibility - but not this time. I chose a path of pleasure and pain to achieve my goal. Where reward came first and the pain lasted. I had to go to work today, and the job site was 2 1/2 hours out of town. A last minute change in the schedule had us beginning our testing at 8am. So I had a choice: either miss the concert and be responsible... again... or go to the concert and risk driving 2 1/2 hours on just 2 hours sleep and hoping for coherent thoughts while working. I chose the latter, and sleep deprevation just about kicked my ass this afternoon. But now I'm on 22 hours awake, my internal clock is a bit screwed up, and I'm typing when I should be sleeping.
But I got to see the Toadies! It has been worth it!
