OMG!!! What a great trip!!!!
First off, I have to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to Katblue!!! You are the best ever and I don't think I can ever repay you.
Canada was great! I got to see some great sights (thanks to an awesome tour guide) in London, ON. For one, it was so odd for me to see people ice skating in the middle of the city park. And later in the evening, the same oddness followed as I was numerous poeple walking through the downtown area with their skates hanging from their neck or being carried. But I guess thats just because of my locale.
Anyway, I really was in awe of the downtown area. There was so much going on. Many many clubs and restaurants for a town comparable to Little Rock in population. Again...locale. And whoever Tim Horton is, he is one rich bastard! I don't think I've ever seen so many chain franchises crammed into a small geographical area. Well, maybe Dunkin Donuts in Connecticut, but I'm not sure. They did have good coffee, though, and some are open 24/7. If you need a coffee hit, you know where to go.
Fencing went better than expected. Saturday, I spent about 8 hours giving it my all and ended up in the top 1/4 of both weapons I fenced (foil and epee). It would have been nice to have brought a medal back, but I guess there's always next year.
That evening I got to go back downtown and hit Dissent, an industrial club with excellent music and free pool. Don't let Katblue fool you; she's a pretty good pool player. Good thing we weren't playing for money. I think we stayed ther until close to midnight. It was a good ending to a good weekend.
Now it's back to work. Gotta plan my next trip some time soon, wherever it takes me.
