I went and saw The Omen today. It was a good movie, but it wasn't the ending I wanted. It was the ending I expected, but it wasn't the ending I was hoping for. What is it with movie endings disappointing me lately? The Breakup, The Omen, Return of Superman (book, not movie. But movie novelization nonetheless). Movies are my refuge for the world. Much like they were for most of America during the 1940's in WWII, when Hollywood was in its prime as the Dream Factory. That was the time that the famous Hollywood musicals came out. Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, all the greats. They were more dance numbers and fancy choreography than actual plot. But they were loved. Of course then Film Noir was big in the late 40's, then the sci fi craze of the 50's, and the surfer movies of the 60's. Aaah Hollywood. How I love thee.
