its fascinating that when people find out youre in medical school, the first question that comes to mind is: 'what do you want to go into?' and when i tell them what im thinking about, i usually get 'wow, you must be smart.' god forbid i were to mention some other specialty, cause then i might a: 'oh, youre one of the dumb ones. go you for trying.' you would think that i would be considered dumb considering how fucking long im going to be in training. if i were really smart, i would have transferred to wharton and started working in manhattan as an i-banker or something. they only have a shit life for a few years; i have a decade in front of me. i guess when people ask 'what do you do' they dont really have a ready response to most things that they are going to hear in response. its as if they feel obligated to approve of the answer just bc they voiced some passing interest by asking the initial question.
also, i need to start wearing my white coat out more. i think it would be a good way to meet quality people.
