med school is so fucking weird. im really looking forward to getting out of the classroom and heading to st. e's tomorrow to talk to patients. i really have no idea what type of patient i will be interviewing, but i know that it will be more dynamic than the regulation of gene expression in the T7 bacteriophage. well, ok, i dont KNOW this, but i have a pretty good idea about it.
im starting to get more and more interested in the relationship between disease as a category and as individual cases. for instance, im really interested in people with cancer who seem to become interested in the biology of cancer, and what factors might have led up to its development in their body. its something i need to think through more, but i think there is something in the fact that becoming very familiar with what is going on in your body is less scary than not knowing, and that this comfort is related to the relationship of the individual with their perception of others who might have the disease as well. so yeah, i really need to do more thinking about this. i also need somelameo to send me his thesis, cause ive got some idears that i think it could help me develop.
