Sarah, Sarah
Whatever made you
change your mind
Sarah, Sarah
So easy to look at
so hard to define

every morning I walk down into the city to find its brave smiling face and beating heart. beggars spooked by their own shadow - the shallow pools of their eyes speaking pain & loss. a transvestite strolling down state street like a rare ostrich pluming its feathers
I take in the city and the city takes in me - a fair exchange. middle-aged women smoking & gossiping outside the big government buildings, sucking in the chemicals that will drive them through the paperwork and fawning of the day. primped and armored businessmen who breathe their self-importance. a young belligerent man braced for survival
where are they coming from, where are they going - always in motion
