What a weekend of wonders...
Yes, indeed, we have now crossed the OPENING WEEKEND line of REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA at the Paper Wing Theatre, in which I play Luigi Largo... you want pictures, I got pictures, and there are plenty more where these came from--just ask!
REPO! pics
But what made this weekend even MORE special for me was the fact that I got to spend a great portion of it with my dear friend (closer to family, if you want the truth) Cadavre and her man Corey (whom I'm also proud to call a friend). As you may recall, they spearheaded a party of four who came to see me in ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND at the Paper Wing back in April... I got to spend a little "pizza time" with them before the show with some "meet and greet" afterwards, but that wasn't nearly enough--this time we had it planned!
Cadavre will no doubt be up and running with a blog of her own before too terribly long, and she's the one who has all the pictures, so I refer you thus... but here's how it went...
We arranged to meet several hours before I had to be at the theatre, but with full permission, I was able to give them the guided backstage tour of the Paper Wing first--I promised the two of them that I had a big surprise in store for them, but I didn't tell them what it was till we got there... as fate would have it, I had lucked into three passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and that's exactly where I took them! We arrived just in time for the "feeding" show at the Kelp Forest... we were especially amused by the leopard sharks who swarmed around the diver just like puppies as they eagerly accepted their "treats." We saw the otters, the penguins, the "hot pink flamingos," the jellies, you name it. Oh, but "Please don't flash the octopus!"![biggrin](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/biggrin.b730b6165809.gif)
From there it was BURGER time at the independent "American Burger" restaurant down the street from the theatre--food that just plain hit the spot. We then parted company as we got ready for THE SHOW, which went smashingly (both nights, for the record
)... my friends got to meet my daughter (who was going to wait a week to catch REPO! but found she just couldn't bear the anticipation any longer); and the entire cast and crew were delighted with the opening night treats Cadavre herself created... a REPO! cake topped with a vial of Zydrate and a white chocolate brain (delicious!) and a bucketload of human-heart-shaped sugar cookies, all of which were eagerly devoured by the cast (I was able to give her her DISHES back on the SAME NIGHT!)... I also received my own personal BRAIN SLUG in a miniature coffin...
As my guests had made such a significant trip just to see the show, I also got to spend plenty of quality time with them on Saturday... as I mentioned, they'd gotten to meet and chat with my daughter (they're gonna be "besties" now
), and while it was unfortunate that my wife had to work that day, I was still able to take C&C to meet my parents (and their dog Karma) and my son! My parents were completely charmed by the grace and good manners of my guests, my son soon warmed up to them as well, and Karma soaked up plenty of extra attention...
...we followed that with a trip to the beach and a spin around the 17-Mile Drive before I escorted my friends back to their motel... it was back to REPO! for me, while they got to stay up and watch the MANOR on an actual television as it aired!
Cadavre and Corey--thank you SO much for coming to see us--you are a fine young couple, you're terrific people, and you're more than my friends for life--as I suggested above, you are FAMILY as far as I'm concerned.
In other news, though it's only been a day since my last blog, there have been a few more sets for me to share with you...
SG Parish (whom I first knew as a Hopeful) has a gorgeous and truly provocative work of art for you...

...and mark my words, the time has come for Echoplex_ to "Follow the Sun" and cross the stratosphere!!!

Bowie's son made it, wrote it specifically for Sam Rockwell, which is kinda cool
