Hope you all had a great weekend--and THANK YOU for sharing birthday love with so many of my friends this past week! It's the least I can offer for the friendship you showed me for mine back in July... I gotta tell you, you certainly treated me a lot better than my coworkers did... remember how they "pretended" to forget my birthday so that they could "surprise" me the next day with a cake someone had already made? Yeah, I fell for THAT one...
...well, they basically did it again on Friday and left me in a ugly, depressed mood all weekend. I work in a tiny little office situated just before you get to a significantly larger "meeting" room. And that's where everybody likes to hold their parties (even though they're not supposed to). And even though my job ensures that I "interact" with virtually everybody on that side of the building, everybody assumes it's somebody else's job to check the department lists and let people know when these parties are happening. The result is that I frequently have to put up with parties happening right next door to me... and be they for birthdays, going-aways or any such stuff, nobody ever remembers to invite the troll in the closet.
Sure, once in a while, somebody will pop out in the middle of a party, knock on my door and say "Would you like to join us?" That's reasonably nice, but no substitute for being acknowledged in the first place (hell, I would have signed a card, I might have brought a nice snack--I'm really not THAT bad a person, folks).
But THIS one was the coup de grace... AFTER the party, somebody came to my door and said "There's still some cake left if you want some!" Well, that was THAT, and I responded as frankly as I could without violating office harassment policies. "Maybe if I'd been invited in the first place, I would, but I wasn't, so I'm not." The End.
Well, I don't rely completely on imaginary friends and virtual families, but I'll tell you this much. My family makes me feel like I belong. The Paper Wing Theatre Company makes me feel like I belong. And YOU make me feel like I belong, even though I've only had the pleasure of meeting one of you in person so far. So... right back at you--all fond respect and best wishes for my very real friends!
Speaking of whom?
I call them "jellies," as they're not really fish... but I'm not going to split hairs with the lovely Callioppe!
Remember the old Mr. Bubble commercial? Getting clean is NOT as much fun as "Getting Dirty" when Namira gets involved...
...and before you go back to work, I recommend you spend some more time "Off the Clock" with Zuki!
The REPO! clock is counting down, and you can watch it happen as the MANOR's fourteenth season continues--more on that soon!
Bye for now,
Remo D.
EDIT! Wanna know how to REALLY make my day? Just caught MACHETE at an early show... on the way out, I stopped to allow the couple behind me to exit the aisle and head down the stairs first... but they didn't go--they kept looking at me. "WTF?" thought I... then they called me by my given name and I STILL didn't recognize them... "WTF?" thought I (again)... and then they said "We watch Remo!"
Hey hey--a little local recognition goes a LONG way... and I sold them on coming to REPO, too! Join them...
