Whoa.
I've got a couple of very strong recommendations for you.
Today, I was able to catch THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO... a Swedish import based on what is known as the "Millennium" series" over there. I've read the first two books--while the first was called MEN WHO HATE WOMEN in Sweden, it was sold with the TATTOO title Stateside, with THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE quickly following and THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET'S NEST yet to arrive on these shores. Apparently, all THREE books were filmed back to back in Sweden, and we've just received the first one.
The "Millennium" trilogy (so named for the magazine published by protagonist Mikael Blomqvist) introduces one of the most unforgettable literary characters of recent years--expert researcher, computer hacker and bearer of one hell of a "troubled" past, Lisbeth Salander (played in the movie by expert newcomer Noomi Rapace). Let's face facts, ladies and gentlemen... she's a Suicide Girl if one was ever depicted on film!!!
I'll be reviewing the film in depth on my Myspace and Facebook blogs before too terribly long, but this film comes with my highest recommendation... don't wait for an American remake (likely to star George Clooney and Kristen Stewart), okay?
Now I want that THIRD book, dammit!
I also recommend that you find some excuse to come to the Monterey Peninsula some weekend before the end of May so that you can catch me (and my wonderful friends) in the dark, gritty, modern take on ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND presented by the Paper Wing Theatre Company! Contact me directly for tickets, okay?
And did somebody say Hopeful-land?
MISSMAIDEN has been FRAMED for her lovely debut!

blkfariewings makes an equally slick bow as the local Grease Monkey...

...while long-time friend Riese is back for some Pillow Talk!

One of the most colorful sets in recent memory is simply named "Green," the charming debut of Vikitory...

...and we wrap up with some "bang bang" from the introductory set of the smashing Arquette!!!

Remember, more rehearsals equals less blogs for now, so extend the Hopeful Friendly love, come see ALICE and catch us at the MANOR next weekend!!!
All the best,
Remo D.
