So, this is my first ever post on SG, and I think it's only third blog post ever. Tried it two times prior to this, but never really stuck with it. I hope that changes this time around. Anyway, while I'm writing this, I have a playlist going based on Ida Maria's song "Oh My God", a very cool song if you've never heard of it. Right it's on "Wishing Well", by the Airborne Toxic Event, and I'm pretty sure I'm typing in time with the song's time. Kind of a cool feeling. Anyway, enough stalling. I guess I should tell you a bit about me, because if you're reading this and have gotten this far, you might be interested in that.
Anyway, my name, for all intents and purposes on this site, is Rem Freeman. If you're interested in the background of that name, message me sometime and I'll tell you. I'm a 23 year old geek currently living in Chicago, IL. I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, went to university in Washington, DC, and upon graduating with a business degree thought to myself "Hey, you know what. Now that I've got a degree, I should pursue a career that is pretty unrelated to that. Why not video games?" And that's pretty much how i ended up getting into that. I'm now in my second year in a school here in Chicago, learning the trade and trying to build up a portfolio. Really fun work, but I know about three people in this city, which is a very different feeling after leaving college, where everyone know everyone. But more on that later.
My favorite band, bar none, is the Texan group Explosions in the Sky. If you've never heard of them, run, don't walk, and go listen to their first album "How Strange, Innocence." They're an all instrumental band, which I enjoy even more since, unlike most bands out there, it's up to the listener to create and mold the story of the song in their head, so it's a completely different song to each listener depending on the story they have created. Matter of fact, I think I'm gonna change to that album for the rest of this blog post.
About me, I'd like to think that I'm generally a pretty nice guy, though I've been told that I really need to change that at some point. I like to have fun and just talk with people, but more importantly I like to just generally argue with people over random stuff. You can always tell a lot about somebody by what they're willing to vocally defend and by how much. This also brings me to one of my biggest pet peeves about people, but that's for another post some other time.
Well, I think that's a good amount for a first day post. To anyone still reading this, congrats on wading through my random thoughts and segues. I know it wasn't easy. Hopefully I'll actually keep up blogging and continue to get my thoughts out into the web-o-sphere. If you're ever interested in talking or just having a random argument over something, let me know. I'll be around. And remember, "Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana." -G. Marx
Have a nice night everyone.
