Hey everyone!
I have been wanting to tell you about how I went to my first beer festival with my dad this last weekend. It was great and I have pictures too. Not gonna lie, I wish I could have went with Alyeska, but I have my whole life to do that with her. It was nice to have some daddy- daughter time.
Pictures!
So I put my opinions and thoughts of the beers in spoilers, just in case you dont really care and just want to look at the pictures.
This was the banner they had right out the gate entrance.

Yes! I finally tried beer from stone brewery! They had Stone's Ruination 10th Anniversary IPA available at 5:00pm, but my dad didn't like the original ruination so he didn't want to stay until 5pm for it. Honestly I didn't really care for it as much either, but I am not really into IPA's yet. I guess I will have to acquire that taste. I have tried some IPA's and they are good, but I think this one I will just have to wait and see.

This one was pretty good, Idk nothing seems to ever beat the Beer Works Blueberry beer in Boston. This beer had a very fake blueberry syrupy taste to it. lol

Barrel-Aged Monks Brew- MIKKELLER
This beer was the brewery's attempt at replicating Westvleteren. Umm No. Sorry. The balance of flavor was off. I mean I have only had Westvleteren 12, so if someone wants to disagree and say that beer is close to another version of a Westvleteren's beer. Then I would love to hear your thoughts, but that was just my opinion.

These beers I wasn't in love with but I didn't hate them. I think I would like to try these ones again. Like not right after trying those last two fruity beers, ya know?

This one wasn't too bad, but It had more of a nutmeg and cinnamon taste, than of just pumpkin. If I remember right, It had more of a sweet pumpkin pie taste. I like my pumpkin beers to have a hit of pumpkin, and to almost taste like I am smelling a pumpkin. lol

The Chokolat beer was pretty good. It had a very dark chocolate bitterness that I like but it had a weird aftertaste, that I really didn't like. It seemed like it happened with the other beer I tried from this brewery, The Creme Brulee. Is was very carmel-y, but it had that was strong bad aftertaste.
The next one that I want to mention is this Oktoberfest beer from Capital Brewing company.
I really like this one. It didn't have the nutmeg or cinnamon aftertaste, it just had a nice balance. Although this does not beat Sam Adams Octoberfest or Pumpkin Ale, but it was definitely the best pumpkin beer I had all day.

FINALLY we got to the Sam Adams booth. Honestly I was so tempted just to start there and use pretty much all my tickets there, but I told myself I was there to try more then just Sam Adams and I wanted to try new breweries.
Anyway, I tried The Vixen first. Oh my goodness, did I like that! It was a chocolate beer with a little bit of heat from the chili. It was fantastic. Next I tried Norse Legend Sahti. I just loved that as well. It really did give you a sense of history when you drank it. I thought nautical and Boston when I drank this. Just Yum.
Next I had the Griffin's Bow Barrell-Aged Barrelywine. I like this one too. It had a very hoppy taste to it, it made me feel as through I was drinking an IPA, but for this instance, I didn't mind.

This one I will probably try again. What I received from the beer server was upsetting. He poured it wrong, which then made it too Foamy and it definitely didn't not help me decide if I liked the beer or not. At least the guy noticed and apologized about pouring the beer wrong. So I was over it quickly and I was pretty tipsy at this point. lol

I remember this being pretty good, definately not as good as the uncommon stout by Bent River, but still really good. Prolly one of my favorite porters so far. Keep in mind this is like my 3rd porter so far, so I dont know if that is saying much lol

Not my favorite choice, but my dad loved this one. It had too much nutmeg sweetness to it, but I know not all of you would hate it. Like I said I am just kind of picky when it comes to pumpkin beers.
-------
So now this next weekend I am gonna continue on trying new things
Including this
Also I am gonna try this

Aly recommended this to me, and I was having trouble finding it, until I had the idea to look at "The Grape Life" store near the Beer festival. I got lucky! So that should be fun!
Sorry about all the spoilers, I just didn't want my blog to be even longer.
Anyway school is going great and I still like my classes so far. A couple of them I hope just fly by, but that is to be expected. I cant wait for Dec 9th,when I graduate.
Anyway until next time.
