well so okay

i've just gone and moved to brooklyn. kind of a barren neighborhood. not much near by. no music, bars, coffee... i end up driving to mckarren park almost everyday just to be outside. still need to find a bike to ride.

missed out on seeing solex play in williamsburg sunday. anyone happen to go?

finished a couple books recently.

Angels by Denis Johnson and Grimus by Salman Rushdie. They're both first novels by their respective authors, and both recommended. I've read a few other Johnson books and I'm pretty into them. I grew up kissing books and bread. In our house, whenever anyone dropped a book or let fall a chapatti or a slice which was our word for a triangle of buttered leavened bread, the fallen object was required not only to be picked up but also kissed, by way of apology for the act of clumsy disrespect. I was as careless and butter-fingered as any child and, accordingly, during my childhood years, I kissed a large number of slices and also my fair share of books. Devout households in India often contained, and still contain, persons in the habit of kissing holy books. But we kissed everything. We kissed dictionaries and atlases. We kissed Enid Blyton novels and Superman comics. If Id ever dropped the telephone directory Id probably have kissed that, too. All this happened before I had ever kissed a girl. In fact it would almost be true, true enough for a fiction writer, anyhow, to say that once I started kissing girls, my activities with regard to bread and books lost some of their special excitement. But one never forgets ones first loves.

so cold... it was -6 at 9 this morning and warmed all the way up to -3 at noon...

the pictures are funny. It was fun being back home. Portland is crazy, snow everywhere, but now its warm again thank god. Snowboarding was really good fresh deep snow, but now it gets icy and the park/pipe is only mediocre. The pipe was fun last week inbetween the snow and warmth. Skate ruby's park everyday!! especially if its neg3 at high noon. I'm going to San Diego In two days I can't wait. Skating and surfing all week, and maybe some parties. It should be fun. Take care. I'm still in PA getting ready to go on the road to do clinics starting next week. Just getting through this season and then looking at my options as far as work, business enterprises and life in general. I guess I'm doing good I wish I was doing better financially but money isn't everything.

okay - so not a whole lot new up in here... went to check out kcdc skateshop in williamsburg on sunday... very cool shop + nice sized indoor mini... didnt get to skate - you have to be a member of skate parks of america or something ($30/year) for insurance, but then they dont charge to skate at all which i think is very cool...
