I had an interview for a job at an upscale, trendy eyewear shop on friday. I really hope that I get the job. I find out today (Monday) if I did. I don't know how much longer I can take the bitches at the salon.
Ironically as I've been scheming my escape from salon receptionist hell, I've been considering shifting to the other side of the desk and becoming a stylist myself. A stylist from Hair Off State suggested I talk to her manager about apprenticing at his salon. I like Hair Off State, and the idea is tempting, but I have to consider all the pros/cons.
I'm good with hair, great actually, and I know I could draw a lot of clientel into the salon. Having naturally curly, and understanding the hell of living with it sprouting forth from your head, I've learned how to manage it, make it look lovely, and advise other curly heads on what to do with it. I get stopped on the street all the time by other curly heads asking me where I get my hair done ... maybe soon I'll be able to say, "Come to my salon and I'll show you my technique."
