i think hell must have frozen over.
seriously.
i went to visit ma today and to do some laundry.
while i was there, she didn't once mention:
1. my relationship with spott, why we are together (i.e. our common life goals), and why the hell i'm not with a man (she is spazzing about having grandkids).
2. my name. she insists that my "benton" family never has to exist for me again after the adoption, but i am well aware that it will be there forever, if not active and alive, then at least a ghost in my blood, and i want to keep that part of my name as a second middle name. she is irrational about my ass of a father, and therefore freaks out about me wanting anything she associates with him.
or
3. my young childhood--which was not good, a fairly common thing now, but was in all honesty saved by having her as a real authority and teaching figure.
once again, hell must have frozen over. it seems that these things have become required conversation material in the past few months, and are the reason i've managed to avoid visiting more often than necessary. i'm sure lucifer is having a blast tossing snowballs at his minions right about now.
i'm still a little weirded out. i think perhaps i will put on something to rock out to, and quiet my brain with some mundane chores...
before i do, though, i want to ask... is there any one thing you'd rather not talk about, that your family never fails to bring up? what is it?
anyway

to answer your question - i'm not living my life right. somehow. in whatever way it happens to be at the moment... it is always brought up AND suggestions are made. that's my mom. but hey, what's family for? (grrr)
