i'm not dead, really. my fingernails keep turning blue, but i'm not dead. i think my circulation is wonky currently, and perhaps my blood pressure. anyway, i'm still not dead...
i've been pretty busy with work and such. today is weird--our realtor doesn't have any appointments for us for today. so we are home. hopefully one or both of us will get together the energy to do more laundry, clean, or start packing... that would be exciting. i doubt any of that will happen, though. today seems a lazy day.
my car is weird. it has a whole collection of things wrong with it that aren't currently keeping it from running, but that would cost a minor fortune (for me anyway) to thoroughly fix. still, i could fit a whole family in the trunk. i should know, i've been in it. yesterday morning i had to rearrange some of the heavy stuff i have positioned over the rear axle for traction. so inside i climbed... then i climbed back out with at least one neighbor watching, confused, and drove myself away to work. --backstory: my boss, upon seeing my car, dubbed it a "pimpmobile".-- when i got to work and told my boss i had seen the trunk from the inside and you really COULD fit a family in it, he told me "that's cuz dat's where da pimps keep da hoes". ok, imagine, middle-aged white guy... anyway, funny.
the last couple days at work have been pretty good. you know, the kind of days that make having and working my job ok. mostly it has been because i had the coolest challenge ever. here's the story:
thursday, two guys walked into my store and came to my counter. the talkative guy (the best man) explained to me that the little quiet guy was getting married in 2 days. they needed to print the wedding programs. we talked about pricing for plain black prints and color prints. what types of paper we had available and what they could print on from the shelf, etc. the groom decided he didn't want to pay for his color cover for the program, and wanted to go with plain black prints on parchment paper. that decided, he went to get some cds so he could burn the file and bring it in... while he was off shopping, the best man tells me "i am going to pay for the difference for the color, but he can't know about it." and he did. putting together the surprise was a challenge, and fun. i love making surprises! i had to rearrange some pricing to make it work, the best man had to convince the groom that he, the best man, was going to pick up the order so he could pay for it... the result, i hope, was a very surprised groom with a very professional looking program for his big day. i got to make the one thing that guests get for the ceremony that they walk away with, that will perhaps go into a scrapbook or photo album from the day, i got to do it the way it looked the best, and i got to help a guy make his buddy happy. that is the best kind of job. it just kicks butt.
anyway, spott is in the other room watching something fascinating, i'm sure, on tv, and i'm missing it and her...
