Hello everyone. It's been awhile since my last post, so I figure everyones forgotten about me.
Anyways, my last post was about going to Slovenia for a month. Let's update on that first.
I never went. The company sent several Sloenians here to train on 1st shift. 2 ladies on first shift and I were to go. The Slovenians never came to 2nd shift to train with me and therefore were not informed of my trip. After a month of training they went back to thier homecountry. The later sent an email to the company saying they could only afford to have 2 people go to train them further, and instead of a month it would be 2 weeks. They also specifically asked for the 2 ladies on first shift instead of me, obviously because they didn't get to meet me at all.
Now... of course I was pissed off. Considering that I was the first person to say "hell yes" when asked, not even caring about the pay, a month of visiting another country that I actually had an interest in seeing was the only thing I cared about. I had a talk with the Human Resource fellow about it. He said that one of the 2 ladies still wasn't sure about going and told me I should go ahead and get my passport information so they could have one made for me incase she backed out. Either way I would get a free passport out of the deal. I started to realize that a free passport would be like giving me a gift card for a place I'd never go to buy anything. I won't be traveling anywhere outside of this country for a long while and accepting the free passport would be nothing more than a constant reminder of my let-down. So I told them I was backing out of the program for that reason and the fact that I still didn't get to know any of the Slovenians AND the fact that since they didn't know me there could have been some kind of hostility towards me going and the other lady NOT being there. So... that was that. Some say I should have taken the passport and I still could have went but it defeated the purpose of all the reasons I wanted to go. My ego was pumped up by my company when they chose me out of everyone to go and they sent the 2 people that didn't really want to go to begin with. I was angry and I don't regret it at all.
Next up is my schooling decision. I've been trying to get things settled with my school to go in October to move to PA and take Tom Savinis special effects program. If you don't know who he is I suggest you search him on Wiki. The company I work for is now closed for good and is moving to Mexico and Germany I believe. Since that happend we qualify for the TRA/TAA. The TRA is for an extended umemployment check that I can recieve under strict requirments. The TAA will pay for tuition to any qualifying schools. The school I wanted to go to in PA is in fact under the TAA, BUT the Tom Savini program isn't. So instead of that I'm taking Airbrush painting and illustration. It is supported entirely. The only catch is that they can't have the program approved before October 1st. So here I'll be until Feb. Waiting to go to school next semester. I'll be drawing unemployment for a mojority of that time so I should be fine. Anyways... that's pretty much sums things up from the last post.
My profile does infact say that I'm in PA, it's mainly in hopes that I can meet a few cool people from there before I move. I'm still in TN and I'll be here until Feb.
Thanks for reading if you actually read all of it.
