One of the fun things about working where I do, is that when we have enough people around, we can split shifts. In other words, I can work 6 hours in stead of 12 because someone else is there.
I don't really think I'm cheating the military, seeing as they've robbed me of 5 years of my life (exactly 5 years this month).
On a sad note though, my mom called yesterday to tell me that my grand father died. He'd been in the hospital with liver troubles for the past 2 weeks, turns out it was liver cancer, so it wasn't much of a surprise. He was 90, so he lived quite a life.
I just wish I'd been able to get back to visit him one last time. I'll always kick myself, because the last time I saw him was over 4 years ago. But since he was in the army during WW II and I'm in the army now, I'm sure he understood.
I'll always remember something he told me and my brother; 'Don't grow old, but don't die young.'

I'm so sorry, darling. When is the memorial service? If you're able to get back there, I'd be more than happy to come with you. I know how important he was to you and I'm here for you, in all ways.. I don't know what else to say. I'm terribly sorry.
