I feel weird at the moment. I found out something that I had hoped wasn't true most definitely IS true - and there's nothing I can really do about it.
My memory really feels fucked since I stopped smoking and drinking regularly. I am sure that in another week or two it will be better - but until then WEIRD
I went home for 1 night (Tuesday) this week. 12 hours. While I was gone - someone broke into my apartment and stole 96 CDs and a penny jar from me. Someone saw him and said he looked really cracked out. I understand that shit happens to everyone in life, and that I am by no means exempt from the rule...but in the past 3 months I have experienced 3 different occurances of theft.
1. French Horn - from Hughes Hall. Yes, it was locked up.
2. My wallet - probably from my apartment. I let someone sleep on my couch because I am nice - and in the morning it was gone. I don't know if he took it - but I know that now I am thinking way more than twice about letting some people stay here.
3. The break in - my roommate was here and I left the kitchen window open 1" so a friend could pick up his cigarettes. I should have told Laura to close it when she left - but COME ON. OF COURSE he broke in through the window.
Awesome.
So I came back here and started to deal with that. I am going to check out the used CD shops today with a list of the cds and his description.
I went to Hillsboro on Thursday night and came back to Columbus with Jeremy last night. He got his associates degree - I know it's not much of an accomplishment for him...but it's something. And that makes it huge - he did something for himself. Thank God.
The day before I went to Jeremy's I came back to clean up the break-in mess and I went to the state trafficing court. My friends Justin and Tim are currently in prison for a drug raid. Can I just say that I felt so sick to my stomach when I saw what a mockery of the system this court room made? Their public defender made fun of them. Five people are getting charged with everything they found in the house. A kid who didn't live there, or sell there happened to be around for the bust. They found 4 hits on him - and he (like everyone else) is being charged with 11 counts of felony...Including producing LSD, possession of crack and herion, organized crime, and drug trafficing. His bail is set at $500,000. He has a clean record, too. He's in the best scenario of all of them. They need help. What they did was wrong - but this trial is unfair. They should go to prison for the charges that can be PROVEN. Sad, sad, sad. My friend was not the owner of the crack or the herion - but his name is on the lease - and he's getting charged. I have had ALL sorts of thoughts on how corrupt the system is.
Maybe if it worked - there wouldn't be crackheads breaking into campus apartments...aye?
The only thing that has REALLY kept me happy amidst all of this bullshit is the fact that I have a car to use until I buy my own. YAY! I am mobile...huzzah. Also - I have 2 potential jobs (both are in the middle of the interview process) and I start class on Monday. Booyah - TIME FOR LINDSAY TO BE HAPPY AND PRODUCTIVE.
Anyway - that's not even 1/10 of the venting I need to do/have been doing - but I am glad the journal could deal with some of it.
Take it easy guys, and in the words of a friend,
"Stay positive."
