Well, it's Sunday and I've gotten through the weekend so far without touching any alcohol. Congratulate me, it wasn't easy. Sometimes it seems like my only friend is a bottle. So last night I had no friends at all.
Whatever. I should be used to it by now.
Woke up this morning and did 25 minutes on the elliptical before breakfast. I keep meaning to read up on that because I can't remember if it's better to do cardio before or after a meal. I know with resistance workouts you want to eat about an hour or so before and then again within a half-an-hour after. But I'm not sure about cardio. I think I read to do it before you eat... something about glyco-something or other and maybe something that started with a "T". I dunno... so I did that. I felt pretty hungry afterwards so I started planning this big breakfast, but when I added up the calories it was way too much. So I did a cup of Quaker Oats with 2 scoops of whey protein in skim milk with coconut oil. I've never made the plain oat meal before and it tasted kinda crappy so I stirred in 2 teaspoons of peanut butter. It was very good, but I was hurting by time I was half finished. So I had to waste some of it.
So after my food goes down I may take a run to Sports Authority and Home Depot. I used a coupon I have to get a freestanding heavy bag (which was also on sale) for pretty cheap. I filled the base with water, which makes it 250lbs, but it's still too light. Every time I hit it I knock it back and I have to chase it across the room. So I'm gonna get some sand from Home Depot and fill the base with that. Should make it 370lbs, plus I want to put a rubber mat or something under it so it won't slide on the tile. Hopefully that will keep it in place. I also want to get some heavy bag gloves because I'm tearing up my knuckles. I want to do some bare knuckle stuff, but for longer workouts and all I really need to protect my hands. I should wrap them, but I think I'm just going to see how the gloves work out without the wraps for now.
After all of that I'm debating about getting in another weights workout. I've got a little bit of pain in my right shoulder, so I should probably let that rest today. Plus I know it's not good to train heavy every day. But maybe I can get in some light stuff. After that I plan on spending a while in the park with Rebel. I really wish I had some running shoes, shorts, and comfortable light colored t-shirts. I don't have any clothes suited for jogging at all, but I want to start doing that. My boots are NOT made for walking. Or jogging.
I need to look around and see if I can find a half decent pair for around $50 or so. I don't really want to spend too much if I don't have to. It's just hard to find stuff in local stores in a size 14 EEE. Some places might have a pair or two of their ugliest shoes in that size, but most places have to special order. Or I have to get them online, which is what I've done for the past 3 pairs of boots I've bought. But I've been wearing Magnum boots since high school, so I know how they fit. If I buy a pair of... what's popular now?... British Knights? Okay, so if I buy a pair of fly British Knights I might get them and find them uncomfortable. I hate buying shoes without trying them on. Even if they are phunky and phresh BK's.
