hey hey, kids!
i just got back from new hampshire today. i was up there all of january recording a new album with RCR. it was the first time i was ever the chief engineer on a record and the first time i used all my own gear. it was a very unique project to work on for multiple reasons:
1- with all the people that have left the band and new ones that have come in, i am technically the third senior member of the band right now (after the two members that have been in it from the start)
2- as opposed to recording in a studio, i drove all my equipment up there and we recoded in our singer's uncle's restaurant, which closed daily at 2pm, leaving us plenty of time to record/mix.
3- we had to record and mix this album, from top to bottom, in the time span of three and a half weeks.
4- when this album finally comes out, it will be packaged in with a book that we are putting together to chronicle the creation of this album which will include excepts from journals kept during the project, pictures taken throughout the month, lyrics to the songs on this album, various retrospects on things that happened before and after the process, and many other things.
even with my limited experience, equipment, and time, i think that the songs came out pretty damn well and am excited for you all to hear them. this is the last great rock & roll band. keeping in step with their previous trend, this album has a different sound from all previous albums this band has put out. you'll dig it. would i lie to you?
tomorrow i am voting and then heading back to srq for more school. another unique thing about this project is that i set it up as an independent study project through my school, so i am getting school credit for it too.
miss you kids. <3
