I'm getting really tired of everything. I just want to sleep for years, and forget about ever feeling like this again.

Hi... just curious about Kali. She's adorable. Is she a p-bull? If not, what kind of special sweetness is she?
Oh and I hope you feel better soon.

For all of you yinzers that shop at the East End Food Coop, especially the members, I have some news.

As you may know, management has essentially crushed the union drive through misinformation and intimidation (what a surprise). Workers are now without past benefits, without a paid meal on shift (even though it costs only .50 cents per worker), and everyone's hours have been cut...

Is it ever gonna fucking snow? That's my big question of the day. Did anyone go to the Bush protest? I found out Vegan Jihad and me are neighbors. So now when the feds come to indict him for being a terrorist (since any allusion to Middle Eastern culture certainly indicates one is "evil") I can watch the whole spectacle from my window. skull

You know that being in Pittsburgh, a slushy mess is right around the corner. Are you ready for endless weather reports and constant tunnel delays (even more than usual)?
landminespring:
I did not attend the Bush protest, as I am in Virginia, but I'm pleased to hear about every protest that takes place. I dont want those with short attention spans to forget around election time. Mmmhmmm. EL SUICIDO LOCO

Snow is good, as long a sit's deep, so I can be stuck in my house to do nothing. SWVA is infamous for our winter ice and curvy mountainous roads. Bad combo...

Whelp, another day in on the job search quest. It was pretty humiliating all in all. Then I found out that I've been bumped off a research project I was promised, so it's all swears and scowls over here. I've started running again, which has actually been pretty cathartic. The only problem is I turn bright red when I run, so people literally stop and...

I just heard back from a local group (Pittsburgh Organizing Group) who went to Miami for the FTAA protests. Here's what they said:

Please take a moment to read the below message about the events in Miami.
While everyone from Pittsburgh avoided arrest many were not so lucky.
After reading the below we are asking that you call or email our congressional Representative Mike Doyle...

I've got one hell of a cold. I sound like one of those women who've been smoking since birth...ooh....sexy. I'm cooking a huge vegan feast today for family dinner #1. Now I get to endure comments like "oh, this turkey is sooo good. too bad you can't eat it" (smirk), and "oh, that's cute you made your own little meal!" Hope everybody has a good...

grooverider:
your family's into it?!?

you must have SOME powers of persuasion...

then again, you did say 'dinner #1', so i assume they'll get their meat-fix somewhere else.

so- what are you making?
rebecca:
Ya, my family's way into it. I started doing this four years ago, so now it's kind of expected. They think since it's vegan it's automatically "healthy," so they stuff themselves even more. Dinner #1 was for the boyfriend's family, and I made seitan vegetable roast in a roasted pumpkin, gravy, stuffed mushrooms, chocolate chip bars with chocolate sauce, bread, and corn. Nothing too fancy. For my parents I'm going all out, and making my own fake turkey, and stuffing, and gravy, garlic mashed potatoes with ports and spinach, two other dishes I haven't decided on, a shit load of cakes and pies, and bread...The only thing my mom makes is the turkey because my dad will have a coniption without it. But he still eats tofu and the rest of it happily.

Ugh...going out to look for a job today. It's so humiliating...half the jobs I'm not qualified for, as you need a master's, and the other ones I'm over-qualified for...I don't know what I was thinking when I picked my major. Ugh...dread... puke

one that'll pay the bills, basically. I'm this close to dancing...I just don't think I can do that yet. I was a social work major...trying to fight the good fight. Ha. I'll probably just go apply at the coop.
sloane1:
almost everyone I know who majored in social work went back to school (grad or law), because A) the pay sucks B) it is hard sucking work C) it's demoralizing, so many bad people, so many bad crimes D) few jobs. It sucks, because more social workers are so needed.
