I just got back into town. NYC fucking kicked ass. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I ate at Kate's Joint and Caravan of Dreams often...both of which were kinda pricey, but fuck it. I had two of the best meals of my life this weekend. I also came back with renewed inspiration for my own cooking, so I'm more than ready to get in the kitchen and create some new dishes. Even though it was a really positive experience as a vegan food-wise, I about lost it when I saw all the fur coats walking around. Christ! I started to address people, but they just kept coming. I even saw some old bag in this vegan restaurant with one on...what the fuck?! One consistent trait with the furscags was apparent-you never see some hot, secure girl in a fur coat. It's always some banged out, busted chick who needs the beauty of another being to get attention. The fact that millions of sentient beings are dying for fashion doesn't seem to register with anyone anymore. Sorry...had to get that out.
Stella was awful. Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and David Wain were using third grade humor at best. I did get to see Janeane Garofolo, which was bizarre. She lost all this weight and bleached her hair out; the process obviously affected her comedic skills because all she did was bitch about Bush. I'm all for that, and I'm glad she's being so critical, but why'd she have to forego the funny?
As much fun as NYC was, I'm really happy to be back in the burgh. I've got so much love for this city. I definitely had a chance to calm down while I was away and put shit into perspective. I'm anxious to see what the next few months will bring. Whelp, I think I'm going to go knit and sing songs to my dogter (get it-she's a dog, and my daughter)...take care everybody and stay warm!!!!!!!
