Time will tell
interview is all over. The principal said I brought a lot of good things to the table. The coach was pretty quiet, but I'll get into that in a little bit. The principal and I were talking about something he had seen in my portfolio when an ambulance call came in, so I left rather dramatically
over 50 applicants, 8 interviews
Overall, I think the interview went pretty well. I think I anticipated the questions pretty well, even though they are always the same that are asked everywhere. One that I thought was cool- "which is more important in American history in your eyes, the Depression or Civil Rights?" Took me a whopping 2 seconds to tell them civil rights, mentioning things that are happening now and everything. I liked that answer the best of all the ones I gave.
Now for things that I shouldn't know but do-
1. they pulled my school record- good thing I was Mr. "The man" in school- student gov't, NHS, NJROTC, sports, community service, you name it.
2. I came highly regarded by the asst principal (the coach- apparently he remembers me, because when I mentioned that I was active in sports until my accident, he just said "yup", like a confirmation). In that file was a letter from the director of the NJROTC that he wrote for something. That guy thinks VERY highly of me- and I think the principal looks highly upon the program
3. From things I've gatherd- I'm in the top 2 choices already (barring a screw up in the interview, which I didn't see happen). It'd be between me or a middle school teacher that is looking to "upgrade" so-to-speak. If it's who i think it is, that might be a problem. I worked with him while I was at the middle school. Good guy. Very popular with the students (do I think I could beat him in a popularity contest? Yes, if I was given a full year with the kids as well). So I guess the debate is, bring him up since he's already in the system and is popular with the kids, or leave him because he's popular with the kids
Thankfully, they're on a quck cycle, which means I'll be finding out by the end of next week- problem- I'll be in Bumfuck Maine for the Maine Forest Rally, so potentially I won't know until that sunday when I get back. Hopefully I made a strong enough impression and those that are in power that like me have their way.
You'll be hearing either way- all 2 that may care
