Things as of late
well- class is literally in it's last week. Today was the last day of "full classes". The rest of the week is finals for the kids (half days) and then the last day is Friday. Though I'm somewhat glad I didn't get the position *the new contract that has been voted in is complete shit and the district is going down the tubes because of the budget crisis* I'm still saddened about leaving. I won't be a part of the lax team- one of the fathers came up with an awesome picture book, showing highlights and stuff of the varsity team in action, good stuff- and just in general the kids.
I haven't told them yet, well, I've told a few. The "general population" of my students won't be finding out the news until the last day of school. I also found out the reason why I wasn't "one of the two finalists". Apparently I have to be more formal with the students and staff- now, I can understand my interaction with the students isn't exactly "that" formal, but I think it's good. I will admit that my classroom management still needs some work and I think I know how to "fix" it. The main reason they had a problem with my interaction is pretty much the phrases I use to explain things-- such as "I've got your back" describing alliances and such. The best part- my dept head didn't like that phrase but my mentor loved it. I can't win. The other thing that I really can't understand is the "formality with staff". I never crossed any line until I saw multiple others (one of which is in her first year teaching in the system) do the same multiple times. Oh well.
I did get compliments- one of my co-workers said I was very creative and one of the students complained that I incorporate too much "active learning". These are the things I will take away from there proud of. Now if I can only get another position.
oh yea, and I gave myself a "fade" today= I'll have to check to see if it's at least even in the back or looks decent (I think I did a kick ass job) when the wife gets home.
oh yea, and hooray for sex- sorry Josh
edit- almost forgot the anniversary of sorts of today- today marks the 11th year since my life changed drastically and I was hit by a car my sophomore year of high school. Sometimes I wonder where I'd be and what I would be doing if it wasn't for that (I was pretty good at football, read, really good ). Good thing I have a brain I could fall back on...
